Chen, Yanxu, Huang, Linshu, Gou, Tian

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has made significant progress in the field of music generation, driving innovation in music creation and applications. This paper provides a systematic review of the latest research advancements in AI music generation, covering key technologies, models, datasets, evaluation methods, and their practical applications across various fields. The main contributions of this review include: (1) presenting a comprehensive summary framework that systematically categorizes and compares different technological approaches, including symbolic generation, audio generation, and hybrid models, helping readers better understand the full spectrum of technologies in the field; (2) offering an extensive survey of current literature, covering emerging topics such as multimodal datasets and emotion expression evaluation, providing a broad reference for related research; (3) conducting a detailed analysis of the practical impact of AI music generation in various application domains, particularly in real-time interaction and interdisciplinary applications, offering new perspectives and insights; (4) summarizing the existing challenges and limitations of music quality evaluation methods and proposing potential future research directions, aiming to promote the standardization and broader adoption of evaluation techniques. Through these innovative summaries and analyses, this paper serves as a comprehensive reference tool for researchers and practitioners in AI music generation, while also outlining future directions for the field.

An Enlightened Future with Artificial Intelligence

The decisions that we make now and in the near future will set the tone for the rest of the decade including how artificial intelligence (AI) may develop and how we will use it. It will require enlightened leadership to maximise the benefit for human society. This article is focused on providing a moment of reflection in terms of where we are and where we are going from a policy and philosophical perspective and to serve as a prelude to a more technical article on the next generation of AI that will follow. Positive use case potential for AI includes the fight against Covid -19. For example The Lancet published an article authored by Zhou et al. entitled "Artificial Intelligence in COVID-19 drug repurposing" and state that " In this Review, we introduce guidelines on how to use AI for accelerating drug repurposing or repositioning, for which AI approaches are not just formidable but are also necessary. We discuss how to use AI models in precision medicine, and as an example, how AI models can accelerate COVID-19 drug repurposing."

Machine Learning Pipeline Application on Power Plant. (Part 1) - Projects Based Learning

#artificialintelligence

This is an end-to-end Project of performing Extract-Transform-Load and Exploratory Data Analysis on a real-world dataset, and then applying several different machine learning algorithms to solve a supervised regression problem on the dataset. Our goal is to accurately predict power output given a set of environmental readings from various sensors in a natural gas-fired power generation plant. Power generation is a complex process, and understanding and predicting power output is an important element in managing a plant and its connection to the power grid. The operators of a regional power grid create predictions of power demand based on historical information and environmental factors (e.g., temperature). They then compare the predictions against available resources (e.g., coal, natural gas, nuclear, solar, wind, hydro power plants).

The year of 2020 has proved to be a challenging year defined mostly across the world by a global pandemic and as a result an increasing shift towards digital. The decisions that we make now and in the near future will set the tone for the rest of the decade including how AI may develop and how we will use it. It will require enlightened leadership to maximise the benefit for human society. An imaginative bot that draws a picture from a dozen words

#artificialintelligence

If you were asked to draw a picture of several people in ski gear, standing in the snow, chances are you'd start with an outline of three or four people reasonably positioned in the center of the canvas, then sketch in the skis under their feet. Though it was not specified, you might decide to add a backpack to each of the skiers to jibe with expectations of what skiers would be sporting. Finally, you'd carefully fill in the details, perhaps painting their clothes blue, scarves pink, all against a white background, rendering these people more realistic and ensuring that their surroundings match the description. Finally, to make the scene more vivid, you might even sketch in some brown stones protruding through the snow to suggest that these skiers are in the mountains. Now there's a bot that can do all that. New AI technology being developed at Microsoft Research AI can understand a natural language description, sketch a layout of the image, synthesize the image, and then refine details based on the layout and the individual words provided.

How we use Machine learning at DigitalBridge

It's difficult to renovate a bathroom. There are a thousand things to do, all of which a typical customer has never done before. This problem is compounded by the imagination gap. When a customer views a product, it can be difficult for them to picture how that product will look in their bathroom. Is there a good place for that product?
